SORINA COLYN
Born in Buzau, Romania, and adopted to Toronto in 1990, Sorina Colyn fell in love with dance at age 2 at her first ballet class—though let’s be real, the spotlight probably had something to do with it.
By 15, Sorina was teaching dance, but it wasn’t until years later that she found her true passion: Heels Dance. One class changed everything, and she was hooked on the powerful, feminine energy of the style. She joined Army of Sass in 2014, working with some of Toronto’s most incredible choreographers, including Meghan Norah, Courtney Odelein, Sarah Gokul, Carla Catherwood, Kiana Smith, Leon Blackwood, Chris Clark, Kaela Falloon, Lauren Lynn, George Absi, and many more.
Sorina quickly transitioned from student to teacher, with her choreography featured in over 10 Army of Sass shows. She also began writing show scripts, editing music, and mixing tracks to bring productions to life—a creative process she continues today for Your Dance Class.
Her teaching style focuses on empowering students to step into their power and build confidence—because everyone deserves to feel like a star.
When Army of Sass closed, Sorina teamed up with Sarah Johnsen to co-create Your Dance Class, a safe space for dancers of all levels to grow, express themselves, and embrace their inner power.
We can’t wait to keep building this incredible community and watching our dancers shine!
